FOSSnet Policy

With the newly established policy set to take a place in FOSSnet history on May 30th which involves a new system for decision making (i.e. voting), it is time to organize all of FOSSnet policy into one easily accessible place.

I, AJ00200, a staff member at FOSSnet hope to keep you informed of all the changes which FOSSnet policy is going through. Be sure to check back soon when we have actually voted on some stuff.

At the moment, the FOSSnet voting policy is as follows:
Voting Process
First, a vote is announced through an interface, which will inform all staff via email and through IRC.
Vote descriptions can NOT be modified, after it has been announced.
All permanent staffers can call votes, and vote between having the proposal implemented, rejected, or abstain from voting on this vote. Only permanent staff may make votes, and if the vote involves the staffer itself the staffer may not vote.

A vote will only be passed, if:
(Number of yes votes) / (number of staffers who have not explicitly abstained) >= 51%.
The vote duration will be decided by the caller, but with a recommended time being one week, and a minimum time of one day (24h.) to ensure. If a staffer is on vacation, they may make their wish to vote clear to all staff before the vote is called, or will otherwise be marked as abstained after the vote finishes.
Votes shall only be made public when the voting is over. The names of who voted will be masked to public, but will be visible to any signed-in staffers.

Happy chatting!
